I’ve always been drawn to the places most people avoid—the dense jungles, the forgotten trails, the corners of the world where nature still runs wild and untamed.
My name’s Matt, and for the past decade, I’ve been exploring remote regions around the world. I started as a backpacker with a curiosity for ethnobotany, but somewhere along the way, I fell completely in love with fungi.
It happened in the Peruvian Amazon. I was three weeks into a solo trek when I stumbled upon a massive ceiba tree covered in the most incredible mushrooms I’d ever seen. Fringed sawgills, glowing in the filtered jungle light. I sat there for hours, just observing, photographing, marveling at how something so beautiful and powerful could be thriving in such a hidden place.
Instead of just documenting what I found, I’d bring it back. I’d learn to culture it, preserve it, and share it with people who’d actually appreciate it—the growers, the hobbyists, the adventurers at heart who understand that mushrooms are more than just food.
